New research: How drinking coffee helps increase life expectancy by 30%, many people often do without knowing it

It turns out that drinking coffee like this can increase life expectancy by up to 30%.

Having a cup of coffee in the morning is a habit of many people to start a new day full of energy. However, not all cups of coffee taste the same. Depending on the type of coffee beans used to brew it, along with any sweeteners or creamers, each cup of coffee will taste different.

A new study has shown that drinking a cup of coffee without sugar or simply adding 1 teaspoon of sugar can help you live longer. Adding sugar to coffee is a habit of many people who love this drink.

This is the result of a study conducted by a medical university in Guangzhou, China, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine (USA) on May 31, 2022.

The researchers analyzed health data on 171,000 people from the UK Biobank. Before joining the study, these people did not have heart disease or cancer.

Looking at the effects of unsweetened and sweetened coffee on the body, scientists found that after a period of seven years, those who drank unsweetened coffee had a lower risk of death. 16-20% more than non-coffee drinkers. This number rises to 29-31% among people who say they regularly add about 1 teaspoon of sugar to their coffee.

Dana Ellis Hunnes, a senior dietitian at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center and an associate professor at the UCLA School of Public Health. “Interesting,” but “not too surprising, as there is a lot of data supporting coffee as a healthy beverage with anti-inflammatory effects.”

Dr. Hunnes says: “Black coffee is the healthiest type of coffee because it contains all the healthy polyphenol plant compounds and antioxidants found in the beans. Not only that, there are no compounds. No inflammation was found in these cups. This was in stark contrast to cups of coffee that were either too sweet or too creamy.”

As for cups of coffee with sugar, Dr. Hunnes notes: “Basically, cups of coffee with just 1 teaspoon of sugar added to sweeten it have the same effect as plain coffee. Because 1 teaspoon of sugar can’t cause changes in blood sugar or other health consequences if you are eating a well balanced and complete diet Many people like to enjoy their coffee by adding up to 8-12 teaspoons of coffee with sugar, maybe even more cream, coffee and can have health consequences.
